Little is left of life to the veteran 6.2-liter V8 engine from AMG that over a long time has propelled faster than the Mercedes were sold in dealerships. The latest to get rid of it has been the Mercedes E 63 AMG.The replacement we had already advanced and not more than the mechanical Biturbo 5.5-liter V8 with recent moves S 63 AMG and CLS 63 AMG. In its basic version delivers 525 hp between 5,250 and 5,750 rpm while the AMG Performance Package this value rises to 557 hp at the same speed range. Delivering maximum torque is 700 NM and 800 respectively for a very wide speed range, between 1,750 and 4,500 rpm.
Overall change earns a maximum power supply unless the motor turns, a higher maximum torque that lasts longer and resulted in lower consumption. According to the NEDC combined cycle approves the E 63 AMG 9.8 l/100 km while the family sport variant Estate gets 10 l/100 km is a significant reduction compared with 12.6 liter saloon consumes aspirated V8 engine.
These improvements combined with lower weight of the engine block also help the Mercedes E 63 AMG itself more agile. When stopping the clock measuring the 0 to 100 km / h take a few tenths to stay in 4.3 seconds, 4.2 seconds if we have the AMG Performance Package or 4.4 seconds if we talk about family.
The mechanical combination is completed with the Start & Stop function, the rear wheel drive and automatic transmission AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT seven-speed. The suspension and variable damping system are borne by AMG Ride Control and new in the E 63 AMG introducing a new variable steering ratio with a more direct and automatic sleep mode as selected.
For its part, Mercedes E 63 AMG Estate has also incorporated the new engine. Both should be ready in major European markets from September. Prices for Spain should start in just over 120,000 euros. Apart from the mechanical differences between the new E 63 AMG and the current is virtually zero.
